What is Journal of Biomedical Science? Journal of Biomedical Science is an open access, peer-reviewed journal that encompasses all fundamental and molecular aspects of basic medical sciences. The journal is supported by the National Science Council (NSC), Taiwan, who covers the cost of publication on behalf of the authors on acceptance of their article. As an established journal published since 1994, Journal of Biomedical Science is indexed in more than 10 prominent scientific databases, including Thomson Reuters (ISI), MEDLINE, EMBASE, BIOSIS, CA SEARCH, AIDSLINE, TOXLINE, Life Sciences Collection, etc. Journal of Biomedical Science aims to provide an international forum for encouraging interdisciplinary discussions and contributing to the advancement of medicine, benefiting readers and authors by accelerating the dissemination of research information and providing maximum access to scholarly communication. Content overview Journal of Biomedical Science considers the following types of articles:
Peer review policy Manuscripts submitted to Journal of Biomedical Science will be evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief and appropriate manuscripts will be assigned to an Associate Editor for handling. The Associate Editor will call upon at least two reviewers for their comments. Authors will be asked to provide names and contact details for two reviewers however, final selection of reviewers is the responsibility of the Editorial Board. The peer review system is closed, meaning that reviewer' confidentiality is maintained and reports are not made publicly available. We make every effort to reach an initial decision within 6 weeks of submission. Based on the reviews, the Associate Editor will reject, accept or request revisions of the manuscript. Edited by Michael M. C. Lai, Journal of Biomedical Science is supported by an expert Editorial Board. Publishing in Journal of Biomedical Science All articles are listed in PubMed immediately upon acceptance (after peer review), and are covered by PubMed Central, MEDLINE, Thomson Reuters (ISI), Biosis, CAS, CABI and Embase. Articles in Journal of Biomedical Science should be cited in the same way as articles in a traditional journal. However, because articles in this journal are not printed, they do not have page numbers. Instead, they have a unique article number. The following citation: As an online journal, Journal of Biomedical Science does not have issue numbers. Each volume corresponds to a calendar year. Submission of manuscripts Manuscripts should be submitted electronically to Journal of Biomedical Science using the online submission system. General journal policies Journal of Biomedical Science is published by BioMed Central, part of Springer Science+Business Media. BioMed Central is committed to ensuring peer-reviewed biomedical research is open access. That means it is freely and universally accessible online, it is archived in at least one internationally recognised free access repository, and its authors retain copyright, allowing anyone to reproduce or disseminate articles, according to the BioMed Central copyright and licence agreement. Journal of Biomedical Science however, has taken this further by making all its content open access. Journal of Biomedical Science's articles are archived in PubMed Central, the US National Library of Medicine's full-text repository of life science literature, and also at INIST in France and in e-Depot, the National Library of the Netherlands' digital archive of all electronic publications. The journal is also participating in the British Library's e-journals pilot project, and plans to deposit copies of all articles with the British Library. Journal of Biomedical Science is able to deliver summaries of frequently updated content via Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds.
