Dr. Chang started his early research career on arachidonic acid metabolism in inflammatory tissue, and contributed to the structural identification of 6-keto PGF1α which is a hydrolyzed product of PGI2. His recent research focuses on the functional roles of transcription factor Sp1 in tumorigenesis and neuroprotection.
He was a Distinguished Chair Professor of National Cheng Kung University and has also served as the Deputy Minister of National Science Council, Executive Yuan, Taiwan, to plan national policies on life science development. He received many awards, including the Glaxo-William Harvey Medical Award from Glaxo Co., and the Science Academy Award and the National Chair Professorship from the Ministry of Education.
Dr. Chang is currently a University Chair Professor of Taipei Medical University, and an Honorary Distinguished Chair Professor of National Cheng-Kung University. He has published more than 180 scientific articles, and was elected as an Academician of Academia Sinica, Taipei (2004).
